StartUp Homepage
StartUp is a wrapper for the Internet Explorer. Nowadays nearly all needed
features of a CD starter can be done using HTML. Therefore it's quite obvious to
use HTML for this purpose. Due to security reasons, the starting of files (local
or any other) is only possible after some or many security questions to the
user. Therefore plain HTML with the Internet Explorer is not the user
friendliest approach.
StartUp uses therefore the Internet Explorer for all visual things, but the link
handling will be done by StartUp itself. You have all abilities for the visual
design as with the normal Internet Explorer (incl. objects, images, styles,
aso.) and the ability to start any type of file. The following rules will be
used for links:
- all local HTML files will be displayed within StartUp
- all links starting with http:// or https:// will be opened using the standard
browser
- all other links will be executed (just like double clicking in the Explorer).
The difference between this solution and many others is, that StartUp is fully
accessible and even special functions with screenreaders are supported (in the
same way as the Internet Explorer).
StartUp will show with a standard size screen-centered. If the available screen
is smaller (e.g. due to very low resolution or other accessibility tools needing
space) StartUp will automatically fit to the available smaller space.
Please have a look at the readme file within the installation directory for more details.
